When air is the right answer
Air freight costs several times what ocean does per kilo, so the question is never which is cheaper. It is what the delay costs you.
A production line stopped for want of a part, a seasonal product that misses its window, a sample that has to be in a client's hands this week, perishable or high-value goods where the capital tied up in 35 days at sea costs more than the airfreight — those are the cases where air pays for itself.
What we offer
- Express: the fastest available routing, 3 to 7 days door to door from most origins
- Standard consolidated: the usual choice, 7 to 12 days, with better rates for non-urgent cargo
- Charter: a dedicated aircraft for project, outsize or time-critical cargo
- Sea–air combinations, where the first leg goes by sea and the last by air to cut cost without losing the deadline
How air freight is charged
Airlines charge on chargeable weight: whichever is greater between the actual weight and the volumetric weight. The volumetric figure is the shipment's volume in cubic centimetres divided by 6,000, which is the industry standard.
This is why packaging matters so much more in air freight than at sea. A box with 30% empty space is 30% of your airfreight bill spent moving air. We review the packing before booking and tell you when repacking would pay for itself.
What we take care of
- Pickup at origin and export customs
- Air Waybill (AWB) and the commercial documentation
- Booking with the airline and space confirmation
- Tracking with roughly 6-hour granularity through each milestone
- Import customs clearance in Chile with our own broker
- Delivery to your address, with proof of delivery
What cannot fly, or needs special handling
Dangerous goods, lithium batteries, aerosols, perishables and pharmaceuticals all fly, but under IATA rules that require specific packaging, labelling and documentation. Getting that wrong means the shipment is stopped at the airport, which costs more time than the air freight saved.
Tell us what the goods actually are before booking. If they need a dangerous goods declaration or a temperature-controlled routing, we arrange it rather than discovering it at the counter.
Frequently asked questions
How long does air freight to Chile take?
Express routings run 3 to 7 days door to door from most origins; standard consolidated service runs 7 to 12 days. Customs clearance in Chile typically adds 1 to 2 working days.
How is air freight priced?
On chargeable weight: whichever is greater between the actual weight and the volumetric weight, calculated as volume in cubic centimetres divided by 6,000. Packaging efficiency therefore has a direct effect on the price.
Can I ship batteries or dangerous goods by air?
Yes, under IATA rules, with the right packaging, labelling and a dangerous goods declaration. Tell us what the goods are before we book so the shipment is prepared properly rather than stopped at the airport.
